This decaying victorian baby head with handmade old fashioned rattle has been set on a textured canvas. I've always been intrigued by the many post mortem photos from the little uns being taken back then. Child and infant mortality was high back in the day. This Victorian post mortem piece is macabre, strange and unusual and carries the suiting name "Mortality".
The baby head is hand sculpted wearing a handmade bonnet and the rattle is made out of metal findings. The canvas is fully textured and finished with metallic waxes, inks and mists. The crucifix is made out of crystal. Plus, the silver effect skeleton charm makes it complete.
The canvas measures 5" x 7" and is 0,5" deep, so it and can be hanged up on the wall.
The paints and waxes are permanent as with all the mixed media art that I create, and it's recommended to keep this canvas out of direct sunlight.
